May 3, 2007 - re: volunteer work
Hello - my last call for volunteers was April 13th. Since then, the house has been brought to
the point of completion only to have discovered some old flooring that needed to be removed due to asbestos in the tile
and mastic.
So... we've lost a week here at the end of the project.
It is spring at the Marsh house and, to that end, the exterior of the home is ready for clean-up.
This is my new call for volunteers for Saturday, May 5th.
- Walk around and clean up outside. Bring a garbage bag and/or 5 gallon pail for pick-up.
- Bring rakes and brooms and short people that won't get tired
bending over.
- If you have a landscape rake and some grass seed, the yard area around Jared's addition needs to be smoothed and planted.
- The old bushes and rock gardens have been ripped out partially and cutting out the balance of the stumps is needed.
We are not going to grind them. We're just going to dig a foot or two down and hack them out. Then, we will level the dirt
and await a landscaper to install bushes later in May.
- Grass might need to be cut a bit too.
This is sort of an unsupervised request for volunteers. Come lend a hand any way you might be able to.
Call 810-965-1366 with your talents and ability to join the work. Even an hour with your son or daughter, or
your mom or dad will make a difference! All you really need to do is just show up.
Reply with questions. The core hours are on Saturday, Mary 5th from 9:00am - 1:00pm.
April 13, 2007 - re: volunteer work
Hey there - we are in our final push to bring Jared Home! Again, this weekend, we need some
volunteers!
It is time to clean up prior to paint. This is a 3 step process:
- Walk around and clean up scraps - inside: Bring a garbage bag and/or 5 gallon pail for
pick-up
- Brush down the walls - A fine bristle broom and/or dust cloth works best
- Vacuum - a shop vac to vacuum the floors
It'll be a dusty event, but it is required before we can paint. You will be amazed at the transformation so far!
This will be on Saturday, April 14th from 9:00am - 1:00pm.
Call 810-965-1366 with your talents and ability to join the work. Even an hour with your son or daughter, or
your mom or dad will make a difference!
April 11, 2007 - re: GOAL HAS BEEN MET!
Our budget for bringing Jared home has been reached and we are currently painting and
drywalling the house with hopes to be completely finished by the end of next week! Thank you everyone for
contributions of your time, money and prayers!
March 1, 2007 - re: volunteer work
Volunteering: I wanted to let you know that you can lend a hand at Jared's house every Saturday from
9:00am–1:00pm until "Project 1" is complete. We need your help!
Call 810-965-1366 with your talents and ability to join the workforce. Even an hour with your son or daughter
or your mom or dad, will make all the difference.
This weekend: we will be removing radiators from the house. So a dolly, strength
and big tools would be needed. In this case, call Tim Galvin at 810-494-4739 (work) or 810-714-1473 (home)
to confirm.
February 16, 2007 - update from Tim
Howdy – you are my "Friends of Jared Network"...
I am finally able to address fundraising activities for the Marsh family's day-to-day living expenses.
Many of you have been very generous in contributions to help the Marsh family and I want to say thanks on behalf
of Brian and Tracy. They have expressed this to me so many times; please know they are grateful. It's amazing, but Jared is
approaching the 2 month mark since his diagnosis.
We have all helped Jared, Brian, Tracy, Lexie and Josh make it through this period in good shape in many ways: bills paid,
cars still running, stomachs full, a place to stay, letters, prayers and support.
Some of you have asked how to support in other ways and I know there is interest in fundraisers.
I will pass along all my "fundraiser leads" as they come in.
Here is the first one. Please pass this along to your extended network and help spread the word!

February 9, 2007 - update from Tim
Hello
We have a request for volunteers to help do some dirty work!
Yes, manual labor. If you have a few hours this Saturday, February 10, to haul drywall and plaster debris out of
Jared's home and into the donated dumpster, stop by.
The activity starts at 9:00am and will run for 4 to 6 hours. Nathan Shue is the contractor for the "Bring Jared Home"
project and he is in charge of this Saturday's effort.
If you think you can lend a hand, please call our "Bring Jared Home" Hotline at 810-965-1366 and leave a
message of confirmation. Thanks!
February 1, 2007 - update from Tim - COMPLETED
Howdy!
Tonight we take action on one of the first phases of the "Bring Jared Home" Project.
A group of volunteers will assemble Thursday, February 1 at 5:00pm to move the Marsh Family belongings out of the
house so renovations may begin.
Over the past week, family and friends have packed up much of the house and tonight we have a donated truck arriving
to help us get the items moved to a donated storage facility off Torrey Road.
If you can, stop by and load; the help would be appreciated. The Marsh home is located at the intersection of White
Lake Road and Tipsico Lake Road just south of Fenton. The address is 19307 Tipsico Lake Road, Fenton, MI 48430.
Media coverage is expected tonight as well so I am finding it difficult to predict the turnout and the timetable for
the move. Here is my guess:
5:00pm - Truck arrives
6:30pm - Truck departs for American Mini Storage - G4371 Torrey Road (between Maple and Bristol)
7:00–7:30pm - Unload truck at American Mini Storage
This activity is in support of the fundraising activity to bring Jared home. I believe the first "organized"
fundraiser activity to meet day-to-day living and medical expenses will be a Bowl–a-thon in early March. Stay tuned for
more details on that and who the lead contact for that event will be.
The Marsh family appreciates the love and support that is continuously provided by all of you.
